From a first time blogger, thoughts about life from an American missionary now living in the US after years in Russia and doing a lot of back and forth. Family stuff, Christian content, sports innuendo and lots of quotes from good books.

2 Paths

Read this today from Dr. Ron Martoia:

The only ministry experiences in this post-Christendom era are two:
1. slow death
2. deep change

Might the same be true of one's Christian life too? I'm wrestling with that right now. How deep are my changes and how slow is my death.

More time on the mat needed for this one.

Blessings on your day!

7.13 p.m. on Wednesday Night

True story...

My 7 year old passed out asleep tonight on the couch at 7.12 p.m. A minute or so later this was found by his side apparently the last words thought at the end of a very busy day.

Here Tis!

Ok, you've all been waiting. Here's John Anderson. He looks NOTHING like me. Well, ok, a little something like me. There is a bit of a similarity I guess. You know the more I think about it there is a striking resemblance actually. It's kinda freaky really. At any rate, that's the answer to this much ancipated trivia question.

The family and are in our apartment in Russia now. We'll be here all summer ministering to kids through our youth camps we've directed here since 2002. We left 80 and sun in Atlanta and arrived here on Saturday morning with cloudy skies and temps in the 50's and low 60's. It's just not right that these good folks here in Siberia have endured the winter they have only to have a pseudo spring to enjoy. It should be get better though...thus says the Russian Farmer's Almanac (aka the grandmothers sitting in the yard outside our front door).

Stay tuned...should be a fun summer!

Anybody Ever Tell Ya That You Like....

"Ah, great. Here we go again." So thought I yesterday as I plopped down in my dentist's chair while he joined a long line of dubious smart allecks from the past who have mused about my resemblance to...

or

or

or

So you'll understand if I was a bit worried as to where this conversation was headed. He couldn't quite nail the name/face down he was shooting for so he started getting there in a round about way. "You know the guy on ESPN."

I thought...

or

"Please Doc. Clarify quickly. This just keeps getting worse and worse in my mind."

Finally, he said he's a white guy that does SportsCenter and

Stop.

For some reason...I don't know why...I knew exactly who he was talking about. I've never really thought about it before but I think maybe, especially with those glasses before these I have now, I do kinda look like which ESPN SportCenter host?

You knew this would turn into a sports trivia question one way or another. First one to answer gets their picture posted in my next blog entry wearing whatever they wish and, no, nothing is not an acceptable answer.

I await your response (especially you Faj...you know this one).
