From a first time blogger, thoughts about life from an American missionary now living in the US after years in Russia and doing a lot of back and forth. Family stuff, Christian content, sports innuendo and lots of quotes from good books.

First Day of School

At our house, we operate on a bit different schedule than most...of the world. Today was the beginning of the school year for us. After getting back from Russia 3 1/2 weeks ago, moving, getting settled in and such, we decided that September 29 would be the big day. Sure nuff, this morning, the kids woke up, we all had a big breakfast together, we prayed, worshipped, and then read a verse together before we headed out into this day. Now, "heading out" in our home is a misnomer. More correctly stated, after all that, we headed down to the homeschool room in our basement. Yup, we've entered the world of home schooling. We've long planned on this but just now are finally getting round to it in an intentional way. Pray for Traci as she is the chief in all of this. I'm a support guy any way I can be given work, travel, and not being nearly as good a teacher as she is. Day 1 is in the books though and we had a fantastic kick off to our school year. Possibly the highlight came when, about half way through the morning, Benjamin turned to Traci and said, "you know what I love more than anything else in the world mom? Home school with you as my teacher." Yeah, I think this is gonna work out just fine...
